The stretch between sitting down and being served is one of the longest parts of the day in a dining room.

These fifty mats, each unique, are made for exactly that gap. Set one at each place before the meal, and the table has something to do, something to talk about, and something to laugh at while the food comes out.

WHAT YOU GET

• 50 printable placemats, *** 17 x 11 inches (Tabloid Size Paper) ***
• Instant digital download, PDF. Nothing is shipped
• Answers tucked small in the corner of every mat, so staff can check without leaving the table

ON EVERY MAT

Each mat mixes several short activities, so nobody is stuck with one puzzle they cannot do. Across the set: word searches, crosswords, Finish the Phrase, Honey Words letter combs, make-new-words puzzles, Quick Math and Measure Up conversions, fill-in-the-blank number runs, mazes, sudoku, Finish the Picture drawing squares, coloring designs, Did You Know? tidbits, trivia rounds, Would You Rather conversation starters, The Daily Chuckle jokes, and Vowels on Vacation.

USING THEM AT THE TABLE

• Put the mats out before residents are seated, with a pencil at each place
• Nothing has to be finished. A mat with one line filled in has done its job
• For a group, read a Would You Rather or a Daily Chuckle aloud and let the table answer
• The Did You Know? tidbits are easy openers for staff who are not sure how to start a conversation
• Mats vary in difficulty on purpose. Look one over before you hand it out
• If a puzzle frustrates someone, point them at the coloring square or the jokes
ALSO GOOD FOR
One to one visits, waiting rooms and reception areas, adult day programs and senior centers, rehab and respite dining rooms, and family visits at home.

PRINTING AND CARE

• Print at full size on 17 x 11 tabloid or ledger paper
• No tabloid printer? Print at 11 x 8.5 instead. Everything still reads clearly, just much smaller. It is recommended to use tabloid size paper when possible.
• 32 lb paper or light cardstock holds up far better and is worth the extra cost
• Print single sided. Color looks best, but every mat works in black and white
• Laminate them and put out dry-erase markers. They wipe clean after every meal and last for years
• Rotate all fifty and most people will not see the same mat twice in a month
