- Word list is 22 pt bold, grouped by length (3 letters, 4 letters, 5 letters and longer)

- Verse text is about 18 to 22 pt: short verses are biggest, long verses are a little smaller so the whole verse fits

- Grid squares are 0.7 in wide

- Plain black and white pages, no pictures, ink-friendly

- One puzzle per page

 

HOW A PUZZLE WORKS

One word is already written in the grid, so you always have a place to start. Fit the other words from the list into the empty boxes. Words run left to right or top to bottom, and where two words cross they share a letter. There are no clues: read the verse, pick a word and fit it in. Each puzzle has one correct answer. Most of the words come from the verses on the page; some come from nearby verses of the same chapter.

 

IDEAS FOR YOUR GROUP

Read the verse aloud together, fill in the words as a group, then talk about what the verse means. Work in pairs if a player prefers company. Use the session plan in the planner.
