Explore the World Through Photographs, Conversation and Connection

Bring famous places from around the world into your activity room with this flexible collection of real-photo landmark cards for older adults.

World Landmarks Activity Cards can be used for armchair travel, reminiscence, conversation, visual recognition, matching, sorting, memory games, group lotto and relaxed one-to-one engagement.

The activity does not depend on residents remembering landmark names. A comment, preference, memory, choice, gesture, smile or moment of quiet attention can all be meaningful forms of participation.

What Is Included

  • 56 recognizable landmarks from around the world

  • labeled cards featuring each landmark’s name and location

  • unlabeled photograph cards

  • larger A6 cards for easier viewing and group presentation

  • smaller A7 cards for table games, matching and memory activities

  • 224 printable cards across all size and label versions

  • optional coordinating card backs

  • A4 card pages that may also be left uncut and used as lotto or matching mats

  • clear preparation and printing guidance

  • 11 adaptable activity ideas

  • practical suggestions for supporting different ability levels

Suggested Activities

Use the photographs for:

  • recognition and naming

  • guessing the landmark

  • picture-to-picture matching

  • labeled and unlabeled matching

  • memory and concentration games

  • group lotto

  • sorting and classification

  • travel conversation and reminiscence

  • calm one-to-one engagement

Flexible for Different Abilities

The activity director can use fewer cards, provide larger photographs, ask one question at a time or invite residents to respond by speaking, pointing, touching or choosing.

Activities can be cooperative rather than competitive, helping residents participate comfortably without making the experience feel like a test.

Suitable For

Preparation

Print the card pages on cardstock or heavier paper and cut along the outlines.

Optional card backs are included for double-sided printing. Printer settings vary, so printing one test page first is recommended.

Lamination is optional and allows the materials to be reused.
